Read the legend and get the vulnerable image

You're recommended to have a host (or two), which is (are) able to run two VirtualBox VMs with the following configuration:

1. Router: 32-bit, 1 core, 512 Mb RAM, 1 Gb HDD
2. Vuln Image: 64-bit, 2 cores, 2 Gb RAM, 20 Gb HDD

You need 64-bit CPU with virtualization (VT-x or AMD-V) on host machine to run 64-bit VM.

The Test Image has the same requirements as the Vuln Image (you can shut down the Test Image when the game starts).

We recommend using Virtual Box 4.3.x or later.

RuCTFE is an annual online international challenge in the information security. It has been held 6 times already.

The contest is driven by classic rules. Each team is given a set of vulnerable services. Organizers regulary fill services with private information — the flags. The goal of each team is to find vulnerabilities, fix them in their services and exploit them in order to get flags from other teams. Please refer to the rules page and Wikipedia article for slightly more info.

Top student teams according to the results of RuCTFE 2015 will be invited to the annual national Russian university challenge in the information security RuCTF 2016.

RuCTFE 2015 starts on November 21, 2015 at 10:00 UTC and will last for 9 hours. As usual, the network will be closed for the first hour.
